Join me on a journey of 24 days of thankfulness. Some days we'll laugh, some days we'll cry, but hopefully, each day we'll walk away a little more grateful for all the goodness we have in our lives!
Today I’m thankful for new beginnings. Not just because it’s the beginning of November… or that it’s the first day my husband is home again from Nicaragua (although that is very good). Neither am I thinking of new beginnings simply because we are entering the new season of busyness (basketball practice every night?? Really??) and the promise of winter and special holidays just around the corner. No, those aren’t the reason I am thinking of new beginnings, but it adds to it!
Throughout life we experience beginnings all the time. Some good, some not so good. Take the days Tim and I brought home each of our babies in comparison to the day we brought home our four stupid goats that squat and pee every time they see me (what were we thinking??).
Today, I was looking back over my life and got to thinking… I’ve had a lot of new beginnings, but the best ones come from spending time in the presence of God. There I am able to release my burdens, share my struggles, confess my failures and rise up renewed, refreshed and restored.
I’ve found in Jesus a Friend who sacrificed the most for me, yet offers the most mercy.
With Him, I’ve found a safe place to just be me, and He loves me as I am.
In the presence of God, I find a peace and joy that defies common sense considering the world we live in.
Through Him, I am given unending love, precious mercy, amazing grace and hope-filled beginnings.
Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43
